The Sunken Horror is the most visually distinct of Malignus's four bosses and the least documented. Official media shows a tentacled boss spreading a dread aura in its sanctum, but the public kit does not publish an ability list or upgrade names.

Confirmed stats
The official boss select highlights Cruelty 10, Occult 8 and Battle 7 for the Sunken Horror. Its Hunt value is not visible in the published screen.

Abilities and signals
Not every entry below is a named in-game ability. The status label matters: “Official UI” means the name appears in a published interface screenshot; “Official media” means the behavior is visible in official footage or a screenshot caption; “Named only” means the name is confirmed but its effect is not published.
Dread aura
Official mediaOfficial screenshots and the press kit's GIF set show the Sunken Horror spreading a dread aura across the hall. The public caption is descriptive; no radius, effect or cooldown is published.
Tentacles
Official mediaOfficial screenshots show tentacles rising inside the dread aura as adventurers close in. This is confirmed visual behavior, not a documented ability with numbers.
Hoard scaling
Official UILike the other bosses, the Sunken Horror belongs to the four-boss system that levels with treasure. The level thresholds are shown on the Baleful Eye screen: level 2 at 5 treasure, level 5 at 30.
Upgrades
Upgrade tree not published
No Sunken Horror upgrade names or effects appear in the public press kit. The official art shows a boss with a large aura and tentacles, but that is visual evidence only.
How to play Sunken Horror
The advice below is editorial. It uses confirmed stats and official visuals, but it is not a recorded playthrough or a tested tier list. Treat it as a planning framework for the current build.
Plan for a kill zone, not a duel
The name, aura and tentacles all point to an area-control boss, and the official screenshots place it in a hall rather than a corridor. A room with a wide approach, a central boss and traps on the flanks gives that presentation room to work. This is an editorial inference from the published visuals, not a confirmed mechanical claim.
Cruelty is the signal
Cruelty 10 is the highest published Cruelty value among the four bosses. In minion management, Cruelty governs the unpleasant side of dungeon life: overseeing, torture and wrangling appear under that part of the duties table. Whether boss Cruelty affects those jobs is not stated, so do not budget around a bonus yet.
Wait for the ability list
This is the one boss where a launch-day guide could change quickly. The difference between a fear aura, a damage aura and a tentacle grappler is enormous. Use the confirmed stats for boss selection and leave the build specifics until Mossbomb publishes the ability screen or the game is in hand.
What we still don't know
- The Sunken Horror's Hunt stat is not shown.
- No ability names, cooldowns or upgrade effects are public.
- Whether the dread aura damages, debuffs or simply marks targets is unknown.
- The range and control rules for the tentacles are undocumented.
