Malignus publishes a clear minimum and recommended specification. The minimum targets 30 fps at 1920×1080 at normal game speed; the recommended targets 60 fps at 1920×1080 in a busy colony at 3× speed.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 or 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-4770 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 4 cores, 8 threads | Intel Core i5-12400 / AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6 cores |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 560 4 GB VRAM, Vulkan | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super / AMD Radeon RX 6600 6 GB VRAM |
| Network | Broadband Internet connection | Broadband Internet connection |
| Storage | 3 GB available space | 3 GB available space |
| Target | 30 fps at 1920×1080, normal game speed | 60 fps at 1920×1080, busy colony, 3× speed |
Integrated graphics are a separate case
Mossbomb's additional notes say integrated graphics need an AMD Radeon 780M or better with 16 GB of RAM. Intel Iris Xe is below the minimum. Do not assume that a laptop with 16 GB of RAM and Iris Xe meets the baseline; the developer explicitly says it does not.
What the notes mean
Single-player works offline; co-op needs a connection
The Steam requirements list a broadband connection, but Mossbomb's note clarifies that single-player needs no Internet connection. Online co-op does. LAN co-op is supported according to the press kit, but the exact network setup has not been documented publicly.
CPU speed matters in large colonies
Mossbomb says the largest colonies and battles depend most on single-core CPU speed. That is a useful warning for laptop buyers: a high core count does not automatically mean better colony performance. The recommended specs call for six cores, but the note points at per-core performance as the limiting factor at scale.
Vulkan is required
The game is built in Godot 4 and lists Vulkan support on the GPU. A card that lacks a working Vulkan driver may fail to launch even if its raw performance looks adequate. Check the vendor's current driver support rather than relying on the model name alone.
The demo uses the same baseline
The demo's Steam page lists the same minimum and recommended specs as the full game. If the demo runs poorly on your machine, the Early Access build is unlikely to be a different experience at launch. Our demo page covers what to test.
Platform support
| Platform | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC (Steam) | Supported | The only announced platform. |
| macOS / Linux | Not announced | No native builds are listed. |
| PlayStation / Xbox / Switch | Not announced | No console version has been announced. |
| Steam Deck | Unknown | No Steam Deck compatibility rating was listed when checked on November 1, 2026. |
| Cloud gaming | Not announced | No GeForce Now or similar listing was found on the official pages. |
Check your PC against the published baseline
The Malignus PC checker compares your RAM, VRAM, CPU cores, OS and GPU class with the published thresholds. It is a baseline check, not a benchmark: it cannot tell you how a specific laptop will behave in a 30-minion colony, and it does not replace the demo.
The honest summary
If you meet the recommended tier, the published target is 60 fps in a busy colony at 3× speed. If you meet only the minimum, the published target is 30 fps at normal speed. Neither number is a guarantee for your specific machine, and both can change during Early Access.
Specs can change
Mossbomb explicitly says the requirements are for a game in active development and can change. Re-check the Steam page after Early Access launches and after major updates.
